As someone who has gone no contact with several family members, I couldn't agree more. I'm not sure why lineage is believed to create some type of bond that is supposedly better than the bonds we choose, but I think it's a mentality bound to create toxic relationships. If one party believes nothing they do will ever make you turn away because you're "blood", inevitably they will - at the very least - drain your resources.
