Back when I still dated, I pursued a few men. At first they seemed flattered, but it didn't take long for things to go south. They seemed to lose attraction knowing up front that I was interested. That's where the statement stems from. Not because I'm not willing to pursue but because it doesn't seem like society has caught up and men still seem to prefer "the chase".
