I think men in general have benefitted from women's free emotional and physical labor in general for a long time.

It's one of the reasons I have chosen to remain forever single. At least to this point, I have only had relationships which were exhausting. Even my last ex who managed almost all of the household chores still managed to exhaust me with his (what I felt were) extreme emotional demands (he wanted all of my time to himself - even got jealous of my kids and my dog, if he was upset he needed to talk it out for hours which would have been fine if he didn't need that to happen immediately, etc.).

If I could count on finding an actual equal partner, I might consider dating again, but at this point men appear to me to be a drain on my personal resources and I'd rather be alone.
