Especially if she wasn't willing to examine her own behavior, there's nothing you could have done. Good for you for staying until the kids were raised (but I personally wouldn't have blamed you if you didn't last that long). Nobody deserves to be abused, and I'm aware that my behavior has crossed over into abuse and can easily cross over into abuse again if I'm not careful.

I'm sorry you had that experience, but I'm guessing it's made you who you are today - and who can regret that?
