Funny since I know plenty of women who are FAR from hideous, but don't fit the male gaze (mostly because they are overweight) and they are completely and utterly ignored by men.

I've seen it with my own eyes. It's a fact. And telling yourself otherwise is just willful ignorance.

They definitely ARE NOT looking for a Chad. They're looking for a caring man who will notice them. And they are passed over time and again. So your pity party is absolutely out of line with reality.
