Does this article upset you? The author generalizes every American to be paranoid. But the parts that don't fit me personally, I'll simply gloss over.

You don't need to take every generalization personally as it is a commonly used writing device. You can apply what fits and leave the rest. That's what most of us do. I'm not going to ask the author for the sources that support her assertion that all Americans are paranoid, I'm simply going to acknowledge that she has some very apt observations and points.
