I agree with you somewhat. However, I do find it to be a fun bonding experience with my kids. For example, 3 of my 4 adult children LOVE Star Wars. Like to a ridiculous extent. So I have agreed to watch all of the Star Wars movies, shows, etc. with them so they can try to convert me. We're watching them in chronological order (which if you've ever Googled it, you know is an intense time commitment). But we have a whole tradition now with snacks and running jokes and I'm happy to participate in something they love so much.

We also have trash TV night sometimes where we hate watch the very worst of the new reality shows (Love is Blind, Too Hot to Handle, MILF Manor, etc.) I have not laughed so hard as during our trash TV nights in years.

I rarely watch TV by myself, but as a family activity, we have made it a fun tradition. We talk and laugh through most everything we watch while snacking on junk food. It's become one of my favorite weekly activities.
