I am speaking for myself lol. That is why I entitled the article "Why *I* am going to retire at 62" lol. I'm not trying to tell anyone else what to do. I'm simply making the case for why it may not be a bad idea to retire as soon as possible.

I do not enjoy my career as an accountant and plan to leave it asap. My family does well in retirement. My mom volunteers, my dad still teaches a class or two a year at the community college. We aren't the type to waste away and die.

As American's we are pretty arrogant in thinking we'll retire "when we feel like it" anyway. The fact is many are forced to retire due to health issues. Life doesn't always go as planned.
