I don't have an issue leaving inheritance to grateful children. If I had children that were EXPECTING that money, however, I would donate it.

My sister speaks often about how rich they'll be when her in-laws pass, which I find repulsive.

For me it's the spirit in which the gift is received. Your children, through encouraging you to enjoy what you've built, sound like the former and I would happily leave them whatever I couldn't or didn't spend in my lifetime.

I think minimalism is much more likely to end in happiness, and I loved reading your perspective. Thank you for sharing!
