I don't know if that's true, at least not for all men. I've known a few with a hero complex or simply a strong moral compass. They are usually the ones that have strong bonds to mom or sister. Or especially if they've had a woman close to them be assaulted.

I suppose as humans we are generally invested in self preservation, so I'm not so sure the same can't be said about all humans.
