I have certainly agreed with you throughout my life, especially because, as you said, there is a reason people act out. It just feels like there aren't adequate consequences to deter the behavior in the first place.

I personally, do not believe that death is the "ultimate" consequence - in fact a life sentence in prison sounds worse to me - but I am exasperated with our society and the leniency with which, especially sex crimes, are treated.

I believe you are punished more harshly for theft in many cases than violating another person. That's what you see here, absolute frustration for the systems that are supposed to keep us safe.
