I have four children all in their 20s (well, my youngest will be 20 next month) and I have never had the energy nor desire to push them through life. They are each so different, that it would be impossible even if I wanted to.
If my boys find fulfillment in playing video games, I don't think it's my place to tell them otherwise. Because video game and porn addiction ended my marriage to their father, I have tried to warn them about the risks. But in the end, especially if it is harming no one else, I feel they must learn what things in life are worth their attention, and which things vie for their attention but are better left alone. That will come with age and experience and I'm in no hurry. I love having them in our multi-generational home!
Thank you for your comments - it sounds like we are in much the same place!
