I left the Mormon church back in 2014 and went straight to atheism. Now I've landed somewhere more like agnosticism. In the end, anybody who tells you they know with certainty what happens when we die is a liar. So why not leave room for something that feels better to you? Do I believe death is a whole lot like going under anesthesia for surgery where everything just goes black and we're not even aware that it did? Yes. But have I left room for there to be something else entirely? Also yes. Myths to Live By Joseph Campbell reminded me that myths in a culture give us a way to connect with others. I think we also need some myths to get us through the hard days. And I see no harm in it as long as I don't force my myths on others.
