I read your article and you make a strong case for abortion as birth control and family planning strategies, but I think my question is less about abortion and more about finding out if a man believes a woman is capable - and should be allowed - to make decisions for her own body.

I think most people would agree that aborting a fetus in the 3rd trimester that is otherwise healthy is morally reprehensible. But, that's kind of my point. Do you believe women will make the best decision for themselves? Do you really believe a woman will carry a healthy baby to a viable age and then opt to abort simply because she decides she doesn't want to be pregnant anymore? No. That almost never happens, and you'd be hard pressed to find a doctor willing to perform the procedure.

Cases do happen where children get pregnant and either don't know or are scared to tell anyone - sometimes late term abortions happen in that case. But for the most part, late term abortions happen because there is something wrong with the fetus or the mother's life is at risk. Which, to me, means we should not be legislating abortion at all. Ever. Abortion is a healthcare procedure. Those cases are between the woman and her doctor. Everyone else needs to stay out of it.

So, for me, the question is better stated: Do you trust women?

And many men are consistently answering No.
