I remember my marriage therapist looking at my husband and saying, "You see your wife crying beside you because she feels like you've left her alone in the marriage because of your video game addiction. And you don't think you can stop playing?"

My husband said, "No, I've always played. I doubt I'll ever stop."

So he looked at me and said, "I don't know how else I can help you." I left my marriage shortly after that appointment. I was very grateful for his validation and honesty. I had heard that therapists will simply keep trying to help you save your marriage until you decide to be done, so it surprised me that he was so blunt with both of us sitting there.

The truth was video games were the least of our problems, but he couldn't even meet me on something small.

I'm grateful to those of you willing to take on this often thankless task!
