I spiraled through many different beliefs, after my daughter got sick, before landing on this one: Look to nature for answers. Animals in nature get sick and they don't lament their misfortune. As humans we have higher thought and are able to ascribe meaning to comfort ourselves, but in the end, aren't we just nature? Sickness and death are part of life. It is not personal.

I have a daughter with Cystic Fibrosis and I've watched her suffer. A lot. And I've also watched many others suffer as well. I'm just not sure there's meaning in it, even as badly as we want there to be.

But in the end, you're the one who has to sleep at night, so whatever conclusion you come to is yours to cling to.

Great article!
