I think I could have demanded this, but it was my children's home and I wanted one of us to stay in it, so they could have some consistency even though we were splitting up.

So since I wasn't able to buy him out, and he refused to let me be the one to stay in it (even though we also had pets that he refused to care for once I left, so I was forced to take them into a rental where they weren't allowed), he stayed, with the agreement that he would live there until the kids were raised. I moved 1/2 a mile away so they could go back and forth as they wished.

He agreed. Then sold the house 9 months later because his new girlfriend didn't like our arrangement.

So that's on me for trusting him to not be the same jackass he was the whole time we were married. My bad.
