I think it's likely a case of the proverbial pendulum swinging. Things, especially related to sex, have been so controlled and so repressed for so long that the pendulum has swung too far the other direction. I hope it comes back to center at some point, because you're absolutely right. There is a specific beauty in being a woman. We can literally create life! And that's a gift we shouldn't take for granted.
