I think my point is more that it shouldn't be something you have to get help with in the first place. When you own your home, you should own your home without fear of foreclosure from anyone (except maybe for a mechanic's lien for work you didn't pay for).
My taxes are $3,500 per year, so it sounds like we're talking about much different issues. And Utah is supposed to be in the top 10 states for lowest taxes.
The qualifications for the Kansas program seem extremely restrictive. How many people aged 65 make less than $23,700 for the entire household? I don't think I know anyone who could qualify for their program. You can't even buy a house here for less than about $450k.
