I think the most problematic element of love bombing is that it's used to manipulate someone into being in a relationship that then uses the love bombing over and over to bring the partner back to the toxic relationship that they're about to leave.

Love bombing only happens for a short time and then it is followed by tearing the partner down. When the partner finally gets tired of being torn down and threatens to leave or actually leaves, then the love bombing starts up again to win them back.

You've nailed it that MAYBE someone deserves a second chance, but if it's an on again off again relationship, it's time to cut out and move on.
