I think the problem is that the inequities haven't been addressed. White people have had the benefit of building generational wealth since the founding of our country, while black people were still owned as property. Same with access to education and the best jobs that can be had.
Have many black people found their way in spite of these deficiencies? Of course they have.
But overwhelmingly, white people still have more opportunities because of the structures that have been in place for generations.
It almost feels like the "Well Oprah and Beyonce are black and wealthy, so racism must not exist anymore" argument, which is just ludicrous.
Do I believe anyone should have a victim mentality and not do their damnedest with what they've been given? Of course not. But do I believe the inequities have been adequately addressed? Also no.
I would be happy to support your stance more broadly (which I respect regardless, it's yours to have), if I felt like black people in general felt the same way, but I do not believe that to be the case,
The fact is that schools were still segregated until 1954 (officially) and actually more like late 60s, early 70s before they were truly starting to integrate. That's only 50 years ago, not even as long as you've been alive. To act like everything is all good now is naive at best.
You can take issue with the white privilege verbiage, but the issue itself has not been adequately addressed in my opinion.
