I think there is some give and take. Every man I've dated preferred me to have long hair. And I generally keep my hair long because I also prefer it that way. But after having my babies, I inevitably cut my hair off for a time because I thought it would be easier to manage (with my natural curls, it was not, but I digress).

It's the same with the beard. I prefer a man to have facial hair. But if he were to shave it off it's not a deal breaker. And maybe that's the difference. Maybe you prefer that a woman shaves her body hair - but is it a deal breaker if she does not? If so, then maybe there's a problem.
