I think this happens a lot. Men take for granted that their wives will simply just be there forever, even if they don't nurture the home and relationship.
I'm always giving the advice - if you'd have to do it as a single man, you should be doing it as a married one, otherwise you will end up a single man.
Women aren't here to be your live in maid. Act like an adult, take care of what needs taking care of around the house (I know you see those dishes and laundry same as she does!) and carry the physical, mental, and emotional load of a household with her, lest she realize she's already carrying it alone and doesn't need you.
