I think we get arrogant and believe we're going to be in perfect physical and mental health until we *feel* like retiring. We also don't foresee layoffs or other similar choices that are taken out of our hands.

I'm not making any assumptions and planning to retire as soon as I'm able. I'm glad things worked out for you, since I know that's not always the case.
