I think we're having a communication problem. The takeaway is simply this: If you go into a relationship with expectations or entitlements, you will be disappointed. Each relationship you enter will teach you something about yourself. That's where your focus should be. Obviously nobody will stay in a relationship where there is nothing of value exchanged. But what exactly is exchanged must be determined by the two of you, with neither of you taking for granted what you'll receive.

If you don't agree with my hypothesis, that's fine. But that's all I'm trying to say.
