I was a mother at 17 and a grandma at 38. I told my daughter I was over it. Happy to be the fun Grandma, but I have no actual child rearing left in me. Did grandmas of prior generations actually decide to parent for their whole lives? Or, like everything else, was it just thrust upon them? My guess is the latter.
