I was definitely not like your mom, but I latched onto the local church and was almost completely dependent on the relationships I built there. My ex was barely able to deal with his own mess, I don't know how he would have ever coped if I had to rely on him for any emotional support.

I think back in the day, when most women were home, we were able to create communities to help us. Now parenting, and especially mothering, for most people is isolating and miserable. Until we find a way back to having community support, I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

If nothing else, keep a part time job for your own sanity!
