I'm 44. And I think most, if not all, people make generalizations. It's how our brains organize information. I think it's okay to talk about issues in generalities as long as we don't apply it on the individual level.

For example, I write stories all the time about problematic men. But until one reveals himself as problematic in my personal life, I do not assume every man I know is problematic. In fact, most of the men I know personally are decent men - even if they aren't necessarily good partners.
