I'm a fan of men in general. What I'm not a fan of is the way most men treat women in relationships. I have a male boss, whom I adore. I have many father figures whom I have learned much from. And I interact with men on the regular and find their input insightful. But I wouldn't want to be in a relationship with any of them. I feel like that's a much different scenario than what you're describing about men not being appreciated for their contributions at all.
