I'm not sure I agree with this assessment. I feel connection with men (or people in general) quite often and the more real and honest they are the more connection I feel. And yes that leads to increased libido. I guess if you're used to dating the guys that are good with words maybe you don't feel that connection with someone who is being real and vulnerable with you, but since I was young I've learned how to make genuine connections with people.
