I'm not talking about a specific religion. I'm taking about the religious undercurrent in our society in general.

Ask your female friends and relatives about their experience with society's beliefs and expectations around sex. I'd wager it's much different than yours.

And, yes, at first when sex is strictly a biological drive, many people are hard-pressed to keep their hands off each other, but once that fades you have a bunch of unhappy couples. Just read through my comments sections anytime I address the subject.
