I'm sure it's simply my perception based on the experiences I've had, but the truly, extraordinarily, handsome men have so many options that they, in my experience, simply do not try as hard.

On a biological level, it has become a huge turnoff for me. I won't date someone who is considered universally attractive and neither will any of my friends or family members. I don't want to overgeneralize - I'm sure there are plenty of men who are amazingly attractive and also are amazing partners, it's just not been my experience.

I actually dated a man who won Mr. Fitness in Utah for the year before I met him. He was extremely attractive. But he also had nothing better to talk about than the gym. Others have flirted with other women openly in front of me, etc. By the time I was about 22, I was completely over it. Give me the man who is average or even below average with a high EQ and the ability to connect with me over that any day.
