It's true. I think it's been framed to be "the best thing you can do for your baby" especially after the "baby scoop era" right after WWII where they started forcibly taking babies from single women to give to childless couples. But my life has been touched by many adopters and adoptees, so I've seen firsthand how problematic it can be for children. If a biological mother and child can be kept together, I believe that is the best case scenario.
