Most times, there is really nothing you can do. I think awareness is growing and hopefully eventually society, as a whole, will learn better methods for parenting.

And maybe at that point, abuse will be taken more seriously, but at this point, many parents just don't have the skills to raise children without using fear and abuse as their default.

I believe it's why our world is in the state it's in. Parents have been uneducated for generations, left to "wing it" and it shows in the dysfunction of the adults they raised.
