Mother of 4 adults and 2 grandchildren here. It's absolutely unacceptable to assume that every space on the planet will be child friendly. Anyone who thinks otherwise is an entitled twat. When my kids were small we took them to "training" restaurants until they could behave in nicer establishments. We went to family time viewing of movies at the movie theater. Parents who aren't aware of how their children's behavior is affecting others' experiences is the reason tolerance for children in some public places is dwindling. If I'm at a nice restaurant and there are screaming children I will just leave. I obviously love children - I had 4 of them - but when I'm out for a relaxing evening, screaming kids ain't it. And the concepts aren't mutually exclusive. I'll end my rant there.

Love the article! Great thoughts!
