My experience has been the exact opposite of what you're describing. Men in my age group are begging for relationships and don't want hook ups. They're growing older and realizing that they won't have anyone to grow old with, or worse someone to take care of them.

Meanwhile, women in my age group are happily single hanging out with friends and adult children, and not interested in anything but maybe a hookup.

I'm not sure what age group you're in, but even the young women in my circle don't want relationships or sex at this point. So the divide grows.
