Obviously things have evolved somewhat, but I stand by it. Marriage was originally a bill of sale between father and new husband. Wife had no real ability to work and provide for her own needs if she so chose, which means she was sold as domestic labor whether she wanted to be or not. In some cases there was even a dowry to help her be more attractive as a product. It's an outdated tradition. Legally binding yourself to another is a terrible idea.
