Parenting without a community is a nightmare. I don't know who even still has community nowadays. I loved kids, and I loved (and still love) being a mom, but it pushed me to my breaking point more days than not.

At one point I had a friend who lived next door. We'd get together with my 2 little ones and her 1, which helped each of us shoulder the weight. But I didn't always have that support and it was a nightmare to manage alone.

I think most parents picture it being like having a puppy. Nobody truly prepares you for the crushing weight that is motherhood/parenthood. And yes, many simply seem to give up.
