Performative kindness is still kindness if someone benefits at the other end. It's annoying that people record their acts of kindness to "sell" online, but giving a hungry person a meal, or complimenting a stranger still enhance that person's life.

Maybe this is a case of fake it until you make it? Maybe enough performative kindness ends in a person being genuinely kind? Hard to say.
