The focus potentially "should be" the family. But not the unhealthy, toxic version women were subjected to. If men (and women) want to keep the focus on the family then they will need to step up and become equal partners. Women carrying the full emotional, mental, physical, spiritual burden of the home was never sustainable. Women do not leave their marriages when they feel seen and loved and supported. They leave when they are being taken advantage of. They leave when their husband is simply one more child to take care of.

So maybe the focus, for the sake of society, should be on the family, but if that's the case it better be men's focus as well. Because to imply that the burden rests solely on women is what got us into this mess to begin with.
