There is a scene in a movie called Roxanne with Steve Martin in which Martin plays the new fire chief and is trying to get the fire department trained because they are terrible at their jobs.

At one point he says, "We don't want people to say, whatever you do DON'T call the fire department if there's a fire."

I'm at this point with the police in this country. When there is an accident or a crime I think to myself, "Whatever you do, DON'T call the police." You're just as likely to be treated as a criminal as the victim, you don't know if the cop who shows up will be racist or a rapist, and you can't be guaranteed that you won't leave in a worse position than you started in.

They've basically been given unlimited power and while I'm sure some don't abuse it, some most definitely do.

We have to keep putting pressure on them to file charges, keep telling the stories, keep the victims faces in plain sight.

Another good soul gone too soon. Justice must be served.
