There was a study done of ivy league school attendees, in which it was found that a love of reading was foundational to success. However, it did not matter if they preferred graphic novels or non-fiction. Simply enjoying reading was the defining characteristic.
I didn't read when I was younger. Turned out I had a slight astigmatism that without correction gives me headaches when I read, so it was a painful experience for me, even as a young girl.
Audible is an amazing option, one which I use religiously. I love to listen to books while I walk and drive as that time would otherwise be spent listening to music, or sitting in silence (both of which I still opt for at times).
