The only thing I'd add, as someone who has had about 25 years experience off and on with dating apps, is that there's a sense of there always being more. I don't have to commit my attention to this guy because there are dozens more in his place. If you're someone always looking for the bigger, better, deal you'll constantly wonder if there's someone even better out there.

I'm not in the dating pool any longer (as a permanent decision), but if I was I wouldn't waste my time on the dating apps.

Getting involved in the activities you enjoy is the way to meet people. Taking classes, volunteering, etc. as you mentioned. We need to get back to community and ditch the failed dating app experiment.
