This may be true, but think about those who are in complete control of their lives. They have enough money to wake when they choose to wake, travel when they choose to travel, buy what they choose to buy.

I believe the obsession with traveling is more closely related to the fact that there is a small subset of humans who have complete control over their own existence, and the rest of us are slaves daily to the endeavor of fulfilling our basic needs.

Not that we shouldn't enjoy the journey as they say, but I think it's a much more nuanced issue than simply focusing on our next vacation.
