Yes! It's much easier to talk about our own pain in relation to another more prominent case.

Being shut down on my views regarding those cases feels the same as being shut down regarding my own trauma.

So be careful when discounting a woman's opinion regarding a famous case because she may be using it as a way to talk about her own pain without getting too personal, and the "well actually" men who are sharing their opinions (based on no personal experience) may be inadvertently tearing her down.
