You might be headed for a multi-generational home like mine with my adult children. We simply love spending time together, so it happened quite naturally.
My daughter was never planning to home school but due to some problems with the district she found herself with no choice. It's been an absolutely amazing 6 months so far. I'm sure she will continue for many years, if not their whole school career.
It's everything you say here and more. I wish I hadn't been so afraid of trying it when my kids were little. We would have been spared so many bullies (including teachers), unnecessary stress, and tears.
And in the end what does public school actually teach besides how to be a worker bee? Certainly not taxes, or a trade, or really anything useful.
